Swapped to this from a mid-tier player and the Darwin III DAC is genuinely a step up — cymbals decay like they should instead of getting chopped off. The adaptive amplifier even tames my picky 300-ohm planars at low volume.

I was worried the adaptive amplifier would sound gimmicky, but my sensitive IEMs are dead silent on the low gain setting and my planars still get plenty of headroom. Battery easily clears a full workday of FLAC playback too.

The Darwin III architecture is doing something special here — my IEMs sound wider and the layering is easy to pick apart. Battery held up fine through a six-hour flight, and the amp barely warmed up.
